The California Highway Patrol said that a woman driving a Toyota Solara was ejected from her vehicle, and another woman driving a Ford Explorer was trapped in her vehicle after it rolled over. Three other vehicles – an airport shuttle van, a Lincoln limousine and a Hyundai Tiberon – were also involved in the crash.
The two women were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. A CHP officer said a witness reported the Toyota Solara traveling at a high rate of speed just prior to the crash, which shut down all southbound lanes of the I-405 freeway for more than an hour.
