Vianey Ivey (36) of Hawaiin Gardens was killed and 10 people were injured in a tragic multi-vehicle crash triggered by a suspected drunk driver in Anaheim on Dec. 22.
According to Anaheim police, at approximately 2:15 p.m., an SUV speeding south on Magnolia Avenue failed to stop at the red light at Ball Road. The SUV struck a sedan, setting off a chain reaction with six other vehicles.
Ivey was the driver of the sedan and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Police report that 36-year-oldĀ Luis Garcia Pedroza was driving the SUV. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
In all, 10 drivers and passengers in the other vehicles were injured, including one person who was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. The other nine hurt were treated at the scene of the fatal car crash.
Witnesses reported seeing the SUV moving dangerously through traffic and traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the horrible suspected DUI crash.
Dat Nguyen, a 59-year-old mechanic at a muffler shop across the street, told the Orange County Register that he saw the SUV going an estimated 60 mph-80 mph on Ball when it ran the red light. He added that it was the second death this year from a collision at that intersection and suggested the city add a speed bump to the road.
