A 19-year-old Anaheim woman is dead and four others have been hospitalized following a suspected DUI crash on Coast Highway near Laguna Beach, according to a news report.
The California Highway Patrol said that Brenda Arriaga was in the back seat of a 2004 Ford Explorer driven by Kathia Isabel Rodriguez, 19, or Fullerton, when it swerved across the northbound lanes of Coast Highway and crashed into a Dodge Caravan minivan. Arriaga and a 19-year-old man were thrown from the vehicle; she was taken to Mission Hospital where she later died.
The injured man was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center in unknown condition. In addition, a 10-year-old girl in the Explorer was taken to Children’s Hospital of Orange County with minor injuries. A 56-year-old woman from Portland, Oregon, was in the minivan and was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Rodriguez was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center with minor injuries and was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and wrong-way driving.
