In Hollywood on Monday, a tragic incident occurred when a pedestrian was killed and six others sustained injuries after an LAPD patrol vehicle was involved in a vehicular accident. The collision took place at the busy intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Gower Street just before the evening rush at 5 p.m.
Authorities, including LAPD officers and members of the Los Angeles Fire Department, were dispatched swiftly to the scene in response to the emergency calls reporting the accident. According to initial reports, a westbound vehicle on Santa Monica Boulevard collided with the patrol car as it passed through the crosswalk, resulting in the police car spinning and ultimately hitting the pedestrian.
The impact also affected two other vehicles, but luckily, their occupants escaped without any injuries. Images from the scene captured by bystanders show one of the involved cars, a white four-door sedan, had significant frontal damage and was pushed up against the rear of the police cruiser, which had its airbags deployed.
