A Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate School bus with 35 children aboard caught fire and three children were treated by paramedics for trauma, according to a news report.

Orange County Fire Authority officials said that the bus was outside Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate School at 21931 Alma Aldea when the engine caught fire.  The bus driver quickly evacuated all the children and then attempted to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, but the blaze was too intense.  Firefighters put out the fire shortly after arriving on the scene.

OCFA officials said that paramedics treated three children who were emotionally overcome by the incident; two of the students returned to class while the third student went home with a parent.
