A 50-year-old Riverside man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing his truck into a car and leaving the scene of the accident, according to a news report.

Witnesses told Huntington Beach police that Augustine Mendoza crashed his Mazda pickup truck into a compact car while driving southbound on Beach Boulevard.  When the driver of the compact car stopped, Mendoza kept driving.  Several witnesses got the license plate number on Mendoza’s truck and called police.

A Huntington Beach police officer stopped Mendoza at Beach Boulevard and Ellis Avenue, and arrested him on suspicion of drunken driving and violation of probation.  Mendoza was on probation for previous DUI convictions as well as a hit-and-run accident.  Police are still looking for the driver of the compact car that was hit by Mendoza.
