Kyle Graham and Weston Edward, both twelve year olds from Kannapolis, NC, were riding go-karts in front of Kyle’s house recently, when they were struck by a minivan in a hit-and-run accident. The driver of the van took off after hitting the boys, and was arrested by police later that night. The driver, sixty year old James Johnson was allegedly operating the vehicle without a license.

Kyle’s grandfather, Gary Dunwell, witnessed the accident, and at first believed that the boys were dead. Chris Mullis, a passerby, rushed to help the boys, and said he believed they were dead at first, too, as neither boy was moving. Both were taken to the hospital where Kyle was reported in fair condition and Weston was reported in critical condition.  According to Westin Edward’s family, Westin suffered a broken femur, pelvis, hip, and arm, and has had a kidney removed and may possibly lose his spleen.
