A pedestrian was struck and killed in Huntington Beach on Sunday night by a driver who fled the scene of the collision.
Police arrived at the scene of the fatal pedestrian accident at approximately 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Oxford Drive.
An unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene while the SUV driver had fled by the time officers arrived.
Investigators believe the pedestrian was crossing the street when he was struck. Then, after the first collision, a second vehicle – the driver of which remained at the scene – also struck the pedestrian.
According to police the vehicle that first struck the pedestrian was described as a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Cadillac. It was last seen traveling westbound on Oxford with what police described as significant damage to its front end and windshield.
